What we actually do for your privacy
- Strangers wait at the door. A first message from someone who is not your contact lands in Requests. No push, no photos loaded, nothing until you say yes.
- Vanish when you want. Hide your @handle from search (your link and QR still work for the people you gave them to), or go Ghost for an hour or a day.
- Deleted means deleted. Delete a message and it disappears for everyone, and its photo or video is wiped from our storage right then, not "eventually". Delete your account straight from the app: your profile, photo and Google link are wiped and every session is signed out.
- Nothing to count, nothing to guess. Public links and QR codes carry no sequential numbers, so nobody can count our users or walk through accounts one by one. Media sits behind random addresses nobody can guess.
- Password guessing is a dead end. Passwords are stored only as bcrypt hashes. Five wrong tries lock the account for 15 minutes from every address on the planet, not just one IP. Your session key lives in the Android Keystore on a phone and in the Windows Credential Locker on a PC.
- Locked down on the wire. HTTPS only: TLS 1.2+ with HSTS on every domain we run. Our own admin panel wants a password and a code from email.
- Fresh stack, audited every release. We run the newest major versions of everything we stand on: React Native, Expo, PHP, Laravel. Every release runs a dependency audit. Everything fixable gets fixed, and what waits on someone else is written down with the reason.
- We fix other people's bugs too. When the bug is in a library we use, we do not wait. We patch it on our side and send the fix upstream. One of ours went to React Native itself.
