Iron Messenger is a free messenger for Android, Windows and the web, built for one job: you open it, say the thing, and close it. It has one-on-one chats, group chats, channels and stickers you make yourself. It has no feed, no ads and no tabs you never asked for.
What is Iron Messenger?
Iron Messenger is a lightweight chat app for people who want to talk to their friends and nothing else. There is no news feed to scroll, no stories carousel, and no algorithm picking what you see. Your chat list is your chat list.
It ships in three languages from day one: English, Ukrainian and Russian. In Ukrainian it is called Праска-чат, in Russian Утюг-чат, and both names point to the same app and the same account. Every language gets its own jokes, not a translation of ours.
The idea behind it is simple. Most messengers grew into platforms. We wanted a messenger that stays a messenger, opens fast on a cheap phone, and still looks good enough that you want to show it to someone.
What can you do in Iron Messenger?
The short answer: everything a typical person does in a chat, done properly. The longer one:
- Direct messages and group chats. A group holds up to 500 people. Make it public and it shows up under Popular right now, so people can find it and walk in.
- Channels. A group where you hold the mic: you post, everyone else reads. You can hand the mic to people you trust and turn on comments under posts. More in how to start a channel.
- Stickers you make yourself. Iron Lab cuts a person or a cat out of a photo on your phone, with no cloud involved. You get 10 packs of your own for free. See how to make stickers from photos.
- Photos and video, compressed on your phone before they leave, so they send even on a weak connection. A photo can also be sent for one look only, or for 3, 5 or 30 seconds.
- The staples: reply, forward, pin, @mention, search the whole chat, polls, and silent messages that arrive with no ping.
- Reactions: 32 free ones, picked from the emoji people actually use.
- 18 themes, 10 of them free, wallpapers included.
Group admins also get built-in moderation. Reply to a spammer with /mute 10m and that is the whole procedure. No bot to invite, no third party reading your group. The details are in group chats without the chaos.
Talk is cheap. So is installing this. It is free, it is small, and it takes a minute to set up.
Who is Iron Messenger for?
It is for ordinary people who chat with friends, family and a couple of group chats that never shut up. You do not need to be technical, and you do not need a new phone.
- People tired of feeds. If you open a messenger to text your sister and come back 40 minutes later from somewhere else, this app has nowhere else to go.
- People on older or cheaper phones. Media is compressed on the device, and Iron Messenger Lite is a separate small app for phones the full one is too heavy for.
- People who would rather not hand out a phone number. Your public identity is a username. Nobody needs your number to find you.
- Friend groups and small communities. Groups of up to 500 and channels with comments fit a class, a team, a gaming squad or a meme page.
It is not built for crowds of thousands. If you need a group of 10,000 strangers, a bigger platform will suit you better, and that is fine.
Where does Iron Messenger work?
One account works everywhere, and your chats and theme follow you from device to device.

Is Iron Messenger free?
Yes. Chats, groups, channels, photos, video, polls, stickers, GIFs and every privacy setting are free, with no ads paying for them. The free tier keeps photos for 90 days and clips and GIFs for 30 days.
Premium is for people who want their chats louder. It comes in three tiers, each a monthly subscription through the store you installed from:
- Premium: the loud themes, every emoji as a reaction (with sounds the other person hears), stickers inside your text, a sticker status, media that never expires while you subscribe, and 20 sticker packs.
- Premium Plus: everything above, plus emoji and symbols in your name, group titles and bio, a profile background, and 30 sticker packs.
- Premium Ultra: everything above, plus fancy letterforms in names, and 50 sticker packs.
The top tier comes with a 7-day free trial, offered once per store account. Prices are set per country by the store and shown in the app before you pay.
Writing your name in your own alphabet is free. Cyrillic, accented Latin, Greek and every other ordinary script cost nothing. Only decoration on top of language, like emoji or 𝔣𝔞𝔫𝔠𝔶 letters, is paid.
How private is Iron Messenger?
Privacy features are free at every tier, because the person who most needs them is often the person who cannot pay. You can make strangers' first messages wait in a Requests tray, hide your username from search, or go invisible for an hour with Ghost Mode. When you delete a message, its photo or video is wiped from our storage right away.
One honest note: Iron Messenger is not end-to-end encrypted. Your messages are protected in transit with HTTPS and stored on our server. We explain exactly what that means, and what we do instead, in messenger privacy, explained.
Your group chat is already arguing somewhere. Move it somewhere with polls that settle things.
How do you start using Iron Messenger?
- Install it from your store, download the APK, or open the web version.
- Sign up with a username, an email and a password, or tap Sign in with Google. You need to be at least 13.
- Find friends by their @username, or send them an invite link.
- Pick a theme. Light and dark are free, and so are eight more.
That is it. No contacts upload, no phone verification, no tutorial with twelve screens. If you have an idea for a theme, a sticker pack or a partnership, message us in the app. We read all of it.
